Tav & Kali: My Furry Dynamic Duo
I never planned on becoming a pet owner of any kind of animal. But last January, one of my students asked my mom and I if I could give a home to two kittens, and honestly — how do you say no to that? That's how Tav and Kali came into our lives.
Ever since I bought my camera back in New Year's, I’ve been having trouble recreating this photo. I don’t even remember how I got this photo in the first place. I guess luck had to do with it…
Tav
Tav is named after the custom character that you can make from Baldur's Gate 3 — and if you've played the game, you already understand why it's a perfect fit. There's something about her that has that main character energy. She has settled into our home like she's always owned it. Unbothered. Dignified. Occasionally, digging up our plants just to remind you who's really in charge.
An Angle when sleeping, a devil while awake
Kali
Kali was so small when we got her — almost impossibly small. She's grown since then, but her personality has stayed true to those early days: she is skittish. Loud noises, sudden movements, the audacity of a plastic bag — all grounds for an immediate disappearing act.
But look at those amber eyes. When Kali decides she trusts you, it means everything. Every time she inches a little closer, it feels like a hard-earned victory worth celebrating.
Life With Two Cats
Having Tav and Kali has been one of those unexpected joys that snuck up on us. They are completely different from each other — one extrovert, one introvert— and somehow that balance works perfectly. They came from a student, they came with no instructions, and they came at exactly the right time.
